In this section, we'll explore how to use our web application effectively. Whether you're a new user or an experienced one, this section will guide you through various aspects of the application's usage.
User Interface

Find food listings (Recipients)
Here’s a brief overview of what you’ll find on the “listings” page:
- Relevant Donors: By default**,** your location will be shown on the map, along with donors being shown with a different colour marker.
- Filters: you can filter listings by food type and quantity provided by a listing. To filter by food type, click on “filter by food type” - this will show a dropdown menu, select the food types that you would like to filter by. To filter by quantity, change the minimum or maximum serving (Or quantity) to filter.
- Request Food from a donor: Upon discovering a donor that fits your needs - click on their marker to view their profile. By viewing their profile, you’ll be able to see all their listings. When you click on a listing, you will be taken to a more detailed view where you can fill in a request form for your needs.
- Filing in a request: ensure that you include additional notes in your request form, that include information such as contact information and other specific information for delivery.
- Create a listing: As a donor, this button will be there for you, click on it to create a listing. On this page, you will find the form to create a listing a long with a display of all your listings.
Using the map (Find food listings)
Using the Mapbox API, users can select and view their location on a map to find food nearby. This location-based approach streamlines food distribution, making it easier for recipients to find donors close by.
Creating and Managing Resources
One of the primary uses of our web application is resource creation and management. Here's how you can get started:
- Creating a Resource (donor):
- As a donor, you will be able to add a to create a resource by clicking on the “your resources” button
- Editing Content:
- As a donor, you’ll be able to add a title, specify a category, and most importantly: add content.
